Mentors in our programs become eligible for need-based assistance based on the applications provided below. This support is designed to help reduce financial barriers for mentors who are actively contributing to their communities and investing in the success of younger students.
The First-Gen Near-Peer Mentoring Program (FGNP) is a mentoring initiative that pairs first-generation college students across Colorado with K–12 youth to foster a strong sense of belonging through social-emotional mentorship. Over the course of the academic year, mentors meet with their mentees weekly through one-on-one and small-group sessions that center belonging, emotional wellness, and identity development. These meaningful connections create spaces where youth can talk openly about identity, mental health, and how to navigate educational systems, while celebrating their languages and resilience.
CAN's Mentorship Program empowers youth in Fort Morgan by equipping them with support skills for navigating the education system, participating in the community, making informed decisions, and preparing for their future career. Recognizing the need for support in rural communities, CAN offers year-round programming through events and workshops.
Near-peer mentors offer stability, emotional support, practical guidance, and serve as inspirational role models for first-generation students. We are dedicated to creating opportunities and a supportive environment for historically marginalized youth in Fort Morgan, prioritizing equity, inclusivity, and collaboration with the community.
